Lots of fellow bloggers will be summarising what they got up to in 2017 and their goals for this year. In a similar vein I will share my reflections on 2017 and plans for 2018.
For me personally, 2017 was a year of ‘trying out’ sex blogging. I didn’t necessarily have any grand plans and kind of went with the flow, as it were. My earlier reviews were perhaps not as detailed as later reviews. Much of this was due to the fact that I was wanting to simply post as much as I could about a range of toys I already owned. Not necessarily a bad thing. We all have to start somewhere! Up until April I had only tested toys and lingerie for Lovehoney. I then became a bit braver, and started making enquiries with companies that I had either bought from or interacted with via Twitter.
Thereafter, I have tested toys for Tantus, Betty’s Toy Box, 4Playsure, E-Stim Systems, Satisfyer and So Divine. It has been great connecting with some lovely people at the above companies. They’ve had the confidence in me to provide them with reviews. I honestly feel that their taking a leap of faith in my fledgling blogger skills has made me hone my critical thinking when reviewing toys. I’ve joined some affiliate programs, and whilst it is a competitive market, I’m happy that I have had some followers support me when making their purchases. I hope they have had lots of fun with their goodies, and I’d like to thank them all for sharing their faith in me.
Aside from the reviews, I have also attempted to write some erotic fiction. The stories have varied in their content and theming, with some fantasy and bdsm. Voyeurism has also featured, in a shorter extract. I think my writing is hopefully getting better and more engaging. Moreover, I have been lucky enough to share some stories written by some of my readers. These have typically been of the theme of a submissive male meeting with a Dominant female.
Getting involved in the blogging community
The site currently ranks #227 on Kinkly’s Sex blogger ranking charts. It peaked at #221 when the Top 100 Sex bloggers of 2017 contest was running in October. I was happy enough to rank on Kinkly’s list, and I’d like to improve the score in this year’s contest (after all, as Yazz told us the only way is Up!)
I have joined Cara Sutra’s Pleasure panel and so far have written 7 reviews. My wish is to continue writing reviews for the Pleasure Panel, and support Cara’s work by remaining a Patreon.
December saw my site turn 1 years old. I hosted my first giveaway, supported by a company that has held the biggest influence on my becoming a sex blogger. As we delve into 2018, I wish to continue providing reviews, and developing some more erotic fiction. Networking is a big part of blogging I have come to realise. I’m going to be attending Eroticon in March for the first time. Though feeling slightly daunted by the prospect I aim to make the most of the experience. I plan to chat to as many other bloggers as I can, share ideas and learn more about the industry as a whole.
So without further ado, on with the blogging. Which this month will be fuelled by Christmas leftovers and copious warm beverages in my fab new mug!
